Make a Difference Day, an annual day of helping others, originated as a way of encouraging people to volunteer their time to benefit their local communities. Millions of people volunteer on Make a Difference Day, with participants completing thousands of projects in hundreds of towns across the nation. Volunteerism on Make a Difference Day ranges from project at local nonprofits and churches to schools and neighborhoods.

The goals of this event are to help establish a sense of community spirit and caring for others, as well as encouraging people of all ages to donate their time for a worthy cause.

Hospital volunteers make a difference each and every day by helping patients and providing support for hospital staff. At Redwood Memorial Hospital, volunteers contribute countless hours of their time at the front desk, helping discharge patients, running the gift shop, providing musical and canine therapy for patients, knitting hats for new babies, and much more.
